Helping Hand is a non profit organization set up with the aim of helping Cancer patients. This organization was set up in 2002 by Mrs. Geeta Advani and Dr. Suresh Advani, an eminent Oncologist himself.

In India, changing lifestyle has led to a sharp increase in the incidence of Breast Cancer. And unfortunately, most women see a doctor when the cancer has already reached an advanced stage. Due to late diagnosis, mortality rate on account of Breast Cancer is very high in India.

The only way to save the unfortunate victims, is to detect the disease early. For this, the American Cancer society recommends Mammography every year after the age of 40.

To propagate awareness about Breast Cancer and to encourage women to get them checked regularly, Dr S.H Advani started with Helping Hand which came up with a unique initiative. If women won’t go to the hospital, let us get the hospital to them!

With support from generous patrons, Helping Hand launched its 1st Mobile Mammography Unit in Oct’07 – our 2nd Digital Mobile Mammography unit in 2013.

Aim of the project “Mammography on Wheels”

  • To increase Awareness about Breast Cancer
  • To provide screening facility at the Doorstep
  • Detect Cancer at an Early Stage so lives can be saved.

How the doorstep facility benefits women?
Helping Hand unit travels to Residential areas, Housing colonies, Hospitals/ Clinics, Social Organization, Corporate offices etc. Each woman spends only ten minutes with us for the whole procedure. The charges of mammography are very nominal charge.

The reports reach them within two weeks time. If we find any abnormality, our staff is always there to guide and help.

Helping Hand have conducted more than 450 awareness camps for Breast Cancer and have screened over 25000 women already. So far, 49 patients have been diagnosed in the early stage of Breast Cancer.
